Freshman

A high school graduate who has not attended a post-secondary institution and all college credits, if any, were completed prior to high school graduation.

Deadlines:

Early Action - November 1st

Regular Decision - January 15th

(Note: Freshman only begin in the Fall Semester)

Admissions Office requires: official high school transcript; official standardized test scores (SAT1 or ACT); admissions application (available online in late August/early September); application fee; and a copy of DD-214.  Personal statement is optional.  Virginia residents must complete a residency application.  If you've taken a college course while in high school, please request a transcript to be sent to JMU.

Prospective Service Members and Veterans (Undergraduate)

Transfer

A student who has completed or is in the process of completing at least 24 hours of college-level course work post-high school.

Deadlines:

Summer Session - January 15th

Fall Semester - March 1st

Spring Semester - October 15th

Admissions Office requires: official high school transcript or official copy of GED results; official transcripts from all previously attended colleges; official standardized test scores (SAT1 or ACT; if you have more than 30 credit hours or are at least 25 years old, you don't need this); admissions application (available online in late August/early September); application fee, and a copy of DD-214.  Personal statement is optional.  Virginia residents must complete a residency application.

Adult Degree Program

Candidate should be at least 25 years old, have 30 transferable credit hours, and a "C" or better overall grade point average.

Deadlines:

Spring 1 - December 1st

Spring 2 - February 15th

Summer - April 1st

Fall 1 - August 1st

Fall 2 - September 15th

Outreach and Engagement Office requires: official transcripts from any college or university attended; DD-214; admissions application; and application fee.
