Dates & Deadlines

Withdrawing from a class after the drop deadline results in a 'W' on your transcript and corresponding tuition charges if applicable.

Faculty Assistance Day
No Classes 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Evening classes (those beginning 4 p.m. or later) meet as scheduled.

February 28, 2012
8W1 (First Block) classes end.

March 5-9, 2012
Spring Break, no classes

March 12, 2012
8W2 (Second Block) classes begin.

March 16, 2012
Course adjustment deadline for semester classes.  Last day to withdraw from semester classes or make grading option changes, including repeat options.

March 19, 2012
Last day to add or drop an 8W2 (Second Block) class.

March 28, 2012
Last day to add an 8W2 (Second Block) class with departmental permission.

Request for Information on Dependent Students

Beginning July 1, 2008, James Madison University will provide to parents of dependent students access to educational records upon written request. This new policy will apply to current JMU students who are registered for the current semester or pre-registered for the following semester if between terms.

To request a copy of a dependent student's educational record:

Complete the Parent Request for Information of Dependent Student form.
(note: A new form is required for each request.)

and one of the following:

Submit a copy of your current year's tax return listing the student as a dependent
OR
Have the student complete the Student Declaration of Dependent Status form.

Please allow 7-10 business days (excluding mail time) for processing from the date we receive the request.
