Camp UREC is a weekly children's day camp at the James Madison University Recreation Center. Kids will have full days of fun playing in the recreation center, around campus and in the community. Camp Counselors are trained JMU student employees.
- Camp is Monday through Friday and daily drop-off is 8:30-9:00am and pick up is 4-4:30pm.
- Enrollment is available for children age 6-12 (rising first-graders through rising eighth graders). Camp is open to both JMU and non-JMU affiliates.
- Campers will need to bring their own packed lunch.

Mystery Week (Session 1): June 10-14
Campers will become detectives as they try to solve camp mysteries throughout the week! A lesson on Sherlock Holmes and plenty of clues will help keep campers on their toes!

Heroes Week (Session 2): June 17-21
Explore all types of heroes, from Super Heroes to Hometown Heroes. Camp crafts and group games will highlight your child’s favorite Super Heroes!

Around the World in One Week (Session 3): June 24-28
During this “International” week, campers will learn about 5 countries - their cultural food, fun, habits and histories. USA, Ghana, France, Mexico and Canada.

Break Week: July 1-5 (No Camp)
Movin' and Groovin' Week (Session 4): July 8-12
Shake your sillies out and come dance and play with us! Campers will have the opportunity to play a wide array of games and focus on moving our bodies! Various dance and movement classes and even Animal Yoga will be offered through this session.

Where the Wild Things Are (Animal) Week (Session 5): July 15-19
Children will experience a full week of animal exploration and summer camp activities including animal themed games, crafts, songs, and more!

UREC Olympics Week (Session 6): July 22-26
Campers will demonstrate their camp spirit while forming teams that will compete against each other in a wide array of activities such as scavenger hunts, quick tournaments, trivia and more!

Session 7: July 29-August 2, UREC's Got Talent Week
This week Camp UREC will celebrate the individuality of our campers! Campers will be encouraged to find their unique abilities to showcase at our End of the Summer Talent show on Friday. The week will consist of practice and discovery of our special abilities!

Registration Information
Camp UREC is $145 per week for the first child registered and $135 per week for the second child registered.
Fill out the Registration Form (DOC) or (PDF) and drop off or mail your payment to JMU Recreation, Attn: Keala Mason, MSC 3901, 800 S. Main St. Harrisonburg, VA 22807. Checks must be made out to James Madison University. Once your registration is complete, we will send you a confirmation letter. Refunds can be made for the full amount up to six business days before the start of that Camp Week.
By registering your child, you are giving permission for your child to visit locations on and off-campus (in Harrisonburg) with Camp UREC. Please note that each Friday, the bus leaves promptly at 9:30am. Any children arriving at Camp UREC after the bus leaves on Friday must be dropped off at the field trip location site, not left at UREC.
