Student Officials Association
If you are looking to take the intramural experience to the next level, then the Student Officials Association is the organization for you! Through this experience, you will officiate a variety of sports that are offered throughout the academic year. You will learn certain skills, such as managing a facility, enforcing sport rules and regulations, ensuring safety for all participants, and utilizing conflict resolution skills. This experience will be challenging, but will offer an opportunity for you to grow as a professional.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the Student Officials Association and would like to officiate for the UREC Intramural Sports Program, you will need to apply for the Sport Official’s position on JMU Joblink. Please keep in mind that this position will vary with sport demand, so the positing may be labeled Flag Football Official or Soccer Official. After the interview process, you will be required to attend all clinics that pertain to the sports. The majority of the sports have three mandatory clinics. After finishing the hiring process you become a non-active member of the Student Officials Association.
