Spring 2008 ISA International Show Performance

 

Our objective is to diversify the JMU community through teaching and performing the high-intensity dance form of bhangra that originated in northern India.

Our Mission is to promote Bhangra dancing in the JMU community. We want to effectively teach Bhangra dance to members, be successful in competitions and also perform events at JMU.

Members
There is no limit as to how many people can join.
In the past, we have had about 16 members. General membership is open to anyone who would like to learn a new dance form. Performance membership is based off of your commitment to the club.

Season
There is no typical season. Most tournaments take place in the spring; however shows at JMU can be at any time throughout the school year.

Tryouts
There are not try-outs to join to join the club. The objective is to make the “competing team” that will be participating competitions. The competing team can be ever changing as people improve their dancing during the year.

Membership Requirements
The only requirement is a time requirement, which states you can only miss two practices a year, unless otherwise approved by the executive board. This is in place to ensure that the team is ready to compete.

Dues
Typically around $50, but can change depending on the years events.

Practice Schedule
Practices are held every Monday and Wednesday from 7:00-9:00PM in the Multipurpose Studio in Godwin.
