Need to relax? Check out our studio and get a massage from one of our professionally trained therapists. Appointments must be made 24 hours in advance and paid in full at the time of scheduling. Payments are by FLEX only. Appointments are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.
We offer following massages:
Most traditional massage schools teach Swedish, Deep Tissue and Myofacial Release. Virginia certification requirements demand that massage therapist take continuing education classes. A brief discussion with the therapist of your choice is recommended to determine what they know and what is best for you.
Massage therapy:
Massage therapy is the use of touch to promote the overall wellness of an individual. It has been recognized for its health enhancing effects by using hands-on techniques to soothe aches and pains and facilitate the body's own healing powers.
To make your appointment:
  1. Visit the UREC Program Registration Desk which is next to the Welcome Center in person.
  2. Appointments must be set at least 24 hours in advance.
  3. Select a massage therapist and choose an available time from the appointment book. Times vary throughout the week so we are sure to have a time that suits your schedule.
  4. Payment is due at the time of scheduling and only FLEX is accepted. Payments are non-refundable and appointments may not be rescheduled.
Types of Massages:  Swedish, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release.
Prices:
1/2 hour massage $25
3/4 hour massage $32
1 hour massage $40
 
The day of your massage:
  1. What to wear? Everyone has different comfort levels when is comes to receiving a massage. Therefore, it is up to you to decide what you wear during your massage. Please note: only the section of your body being massaged will be exposed. The rest of your body will be covered by sheets.
  2. Location of the massage studio: It is located on the first floor in room 126A. When you enter UREC, make your first right (before the turnstiles). Follow the signs to the Massage Studio.
  3. Before your massage: Please arrive fifteen minutes before your appointment. During this time you can fill out a health history form. The massage therapist will review it with you before your massage. This is the time you may share any health problems or concerns.

Massage therapists:
UREC values you as a participant and wants you to feel as comfortable as possible during your massage. Therefore, UREC has employed both a male and a female massage therapist. The massage therapists are available for programs for your club or organization.
Both massage therapists are certified by the Virginia Board of Nursing.
