Red Cards

The red card is used by the officials to remove a player from the match. It means the automatic ejection of the player and that the player's team will remain shorthanded for the remainder of the match.

Red cards can be given if the same player has received two yellow cards in the same match. Or the referee can go directly to the red card if a players behavior or conduct is unacceptable.

Some plays require that a red card be given by the official. Other situations allow the official some discretion to choose between ejecting or cautioning the player's behavior.

Required Red Cards:

Issuing a Red Card
Red cards may be given at any point during, before or after a match while the officials are on the field

Verbal Abuse
Players may not threaten, taunt, bait or encite other players. Players are also forbidden from using profane or abusive language towards the officials or other members of the intramural staff. Verbal abuse is an automatic red card ejection.

Violent Conduct

Players are not allowed to push, pull, kick, strike, or punch any off the other players. Any such action, during or after play, will result in the immediate ejection of the players involved.

RECKLESS AND DANGEROUS PLAYS
At no time and for no reason should any player place another player in a dangerous situation. This includes reckless or dangerous plays for the ball. The safety of our participants is the most important factor for all our rules and guidelines.

Prohibited Plays:

Fouling or Handling the Ball in an Attempt to Stop a Goal or Scoring Opportunity

The last defensive player between the goal and the ball handler must not foul or handle the balling a deliberate attempt to stop a possible goal scoring attempt. This is an immediate red card.

If the foul is within the penalty area - a penalty kick will be awarded in addition to the red card to the player.

Plays of these types are prohibited because they are both dangerous and unsportsmanlike.

Ejected Players
Ejected players must immediately leave the field of play. Further, they will be ejected from the facility by the supervisor and be suspended for at least on game.

Ejected players that refuse to leave the field or the facility will cause their team to forfeit the match.
