What exactly is the Reach Out Climb?
The Reach Out Climb (ROC) is a non-sanctioned, fun, top rope climbing competition held here at the UREC Climbing Wall.


What skill levels can participate?

This event is open to any skill level from beginners to experts.


How much does it cost to register?

The fee for JMU students is $15 if you register before February 11th, and $20 after. The fee for NON-JMU students is $18 if you register before February 11th, and $22 after.

All proceeds go the Jared Neville Foundation.


How do I register for the event?

To register, click here for the registration form. Print it out and either return it to the Program Registration Desk with the payment, or mail it to Adam Ruhland (information is on the form). You may also contact Adam Ruhland at (540)568-8726 or e-mail ruhlanaj@jmu.edu. In addition you can register the day of the competition from 8:30 a.m. until the competition begins at 9:00 a.m.


When does it begin?

The ROC begins at 9:00 am on Saturday, February 16th, 2008 at UREC.


What benefits are there in participating?

This event is a rare and unique opportunity to meet some awesome people, challenge yourself and contribute to an important cause, the Jared Neville Foundation, which is committed to protecting Western Virginia climbing sites. There will also be giveaways and prizes for top climbers.

Where can I park for ROC?

Parking will be available in P-lot, Convo G, D8, and D7. Convo G is located off of University Blvd. next to the Convocation Center. No parking passes will be needed for these. Click here for a parking map.
