Feb. 23 - March 4, 2009
In the past few years, many food banks have witnessed a decrease in the amount of food donated from manufacturers due to increased efficiency in production and new technologies. Many families are struggling due to the state of our economy. As a result, food drives are more important than ever.
While the holidays create a large demand for food assistance, food is needed year-round!
UREC will be donating the cans collected from this drive to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.
Most needed/suggested items for the food drive:
- Canned Meats (tuna, chicken, spam, meat spreads)
- Canned Vegetables (beans, corn, peas, potatoes)
- Canned Fruits (peaches, pears, applesauce)
- Canned stews and soups
- Cereal, Oatmeal
- Macaroni and Cheese
- Spaghetti
- Boxed Rice
- Dried Beans
UREC participants are encouraged to support one of our program areas when donating goods. Pick a box (located in the Atrium) to show your support!
The winning area will recieve a fantastic can trophy and
have their group's name emblazoned on it forever.
