We would like to welcome all climbers to join us for our annual, non-sanctioned, Reach Out Climb, climbing competition held at the JMU URec Climbing Wall. This year we are switching up the ROC format to include both bouldering and top roping.
This event is a unique opportunity to have fun, meet great people, challenge yourself, and contribute to an important cause, the Jared Neville Foundation, which is committed to protecting western Virginia climbing sites. There will also be prizes for top climbers.
The Jared Neville Foundation
AAll ROC proceeds go to the Jared Neville Foundation, which was created for the late climbing great, Jared Neville. Jared was an inspiring climber at JMU and throughout the area who was killed in a car accident. Since then the foundation was created to support maintenance and access to local climbing areas.

Reach Out Climb 2011 was yet again a very successful event this year with almost 80 participants andraising approx. $1000 for the Jared Neville Foundation.
There were many comments about how much everyone enjoyed the “camaraderie” of meeting other climbers. Thank you all for making this year’s competition a fun and friendly atmosphere for all skill levels. We hope that everyone is already looking forward to, and planning for, next year’s competition.
UREC Adventure once again thanks Wilderness Voyagers, the Harrisonburg outdoor store, for again partnering with us to host and assist with the wonderful prizes for the competition. The “very kind staff” was mentioned a few time in evaluations, and without them volunteering their time, this event would not have been as organized or successful.
The 2011 Overall Winner was James Willett from Longwood University.
