National Recreational Sports & Fitness Day

nrsd

What is NIRSA National Rec Sports Day (NRSFD)?
NRSD is a day designated by the National Intramural-Recreation Sports Association (NIRSA) that focuses on the positive benefits of recreational sports, fitness and wellness on college campuses and throughout the community.

“February 22, 1950, is NIRSA's founding date, and in 1999, members voted to proclaim this a day for nationwide focus on the positive benefits of recreational sports, fitness and wellness.”

UREC hopes to achieve the following goals in our celebration of NRSFD:

  • To educate JMU students about NIRSA.
  • To enhance awareness of UREC facilities.
  • To emphasize the wide range of programs UREC offers.

For more information about NIRSA please visit http://www.nirsa.org.

When is NRSFD this year?

Tuesday, February 22, 2011. UREC will be celebrating between 6:30 and 8:30pm!

What Will Be Going on at UREC?

Through a series of information tables, information sessions, and interactive opportunities, UREC participants will learn about the NIRSA organization and post-collegiate recreation opportunities. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to learn about and try new recreation and wellness activities available to them at UREC such as intramurals, group fitness, circuit training, massage & personal training.
