OFFENSE: Burglary of Occupied Off-Campus Apartment
LOCATION: 1929 Sunchase Dr., City of Harrisonburg
TIME: Early morning hours of December 2, 2007, at approximately 02:15 AM.
SUSPECT: White Male, College Aged, 6’1” tall, Medium Build, with Sandy Blonde Hair
In compliance with the "Timely Notice" provisions of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 the University Police are giving notice of a reported burglary of an occupied apartment off campus in the area of 1929 Sunchase Dr., Harrisonburg, VA.
The Harrisonburg Police Department advised that they received a complaint of burglary on Sunday, December 2, 2007. The incident took place around 02:15 AM in the area of 1929 Sunchase Dr. A female college student reported that she was asleep in her room when she awoke to find an unknown male subject standing in her room. The suspect grabbed the victim’s ipod and cell phone and ran from the apartment.
Suspect in this incident was described as follows:
College aged white male, 6’1” tall, of medium build with sandy blonde hair wearing a striped shirt with blue jeans.
The case is still being actively investigated by law enforcement. Members of the University community are urged to be vigilant and report any unusual circumstances and/or suspicious activities/persons. Until this investigation has been concluded it can be assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the community. It is the duty of the institution to warn of possible "dangerous conditions" on its property; an "affirmative duty" exists to warn of possible peril at the hands of some third party.
