DESCRIPTION: ASSAULT AND SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY - Bluestone Drive near South Main - two female students waling east toward the residences were accosted by a W/M who as a passenger in a white possibly BMW 325I, mid 90's, tan interior, operator stayed in the car and followed while the passenger got out and attempted to engage the students in conversation. The subject attempted to put his arm around both students one after the other, both pulled away from him, he touch the breast of one student as she pulled away. Both women screamed for help from passerby, but no one came to their aid. It was raining hard at the time. Both women fled to Hoffman Hall and called campus police. The two in the BMW left the scene, heading toward South Main, immediately when the women began running to Hoffman Hall. One subject verbally threatened the women when they called for help and ran.

DESCRIPTION: GRAND LARCENY from three of four vehicles entered into - R2 lot - windows broken out of four vehicles (undetermined if anything removed from fourth vehicle). Stereos removed from dash boards with no sign of force. All vehicles were dry inside. It had just stopped raining about 30 to 45 minutes prior to officer discovering the break-ins.

DESCRIPTION: SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE/ACTIVITY - R2 Lot - Officers observed "slammed" Honda with two occupants, appearing to be non students, enter lot. Once stopped it was determined that the non students were in possession of wrenches, screw drivers, hooded sweatshirt, gloves, radar detector, flashlight. Both were charged with Trespass, served with Trespass notices, both were questioned, determined not to be wanted criminally by police. Then escorted from campus. Investigation continues.

DESCRIPTION: CRIMINAL TRESPASS - two non students charged with Trespass and issued Trespass notices after officer observed them cruising through R2 lot (old Z) in a white pickup. Both stated they were looking for female student. Both are from Harrisonburg, one is an employee with a major local mechanical engineering contractor, doing business with JMU. A consent search of the vehicle revealed no stolen property and no burglary tools.

DESCRIPTION: MISSING PERSON (from residence hall) INVESTIGATION. Roommate reported that person left room approximately 0300 on 09/05/00 following a telephone call, and has not been seen since. Family contacted, BOL posted state-wide. As of 0749, there was evidence that subject had returned but no personal contact was yet established. Same as of 1051, subject failed to show up for class. Later it was learned that she had gone home due to illness in the family. The family had failed to call to confirm that subject was safe and accounted for despite repeated previous police contacts with the family.

DESCRIPTION: GRAND LARCENY, wallet stolen - On Harrisonburg Transit Bus - Victim of pick pocket was standing while riding on crowded bus. Before boarding the bus at Godwin Bus stop, he checked for his wallet. He checked again upon disembarking, and noticed his wallet missing. An immediate search of the bus for the wallet proved negative. There were many people standing as the seats were full. In the wallet were a check card, $66 cash, VA OL, JAC card, and other assorted personal papers and cards.

DESCRIPTION: GRAND LARCENY, bike theft - Duke Hall - Bike was unsecured/recovered. Owner observed W/M riding his bike and followed him to a residence hall where victim observed rider lock the bike. Police are storing the bike pending owner corroborating ownership with documented proof, investigation continues. Current "possessor" of the bike admitted to buying the bike for $50 from another student (not the original rightful owner).

DESCRIPTION: POSSESSION OF ALCOHOL UNDERAGED, DIP, OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE - M lot - JMU student, one of a group of 8 to 10 people, fled when officer stopped to speak with them in M lot. They had been carrying what appeared to be an extremely intoxicated person. The officer was able to apprehend one of the approximately 10. She struggled, resisting while being placed in custody after running. The officer repeatedly ordered her to stop, identifying himself as police. She attempted to run into a building (the door was locked) and ran past the officer. Some of the others were observed again, but they fled again, eluding the officers.

DESCRIPTION: DISORDERLY CONDUCT - Bluestone Drive between Godwin and Showker - Female student walking south was hailed by subjects in '80's red care riding beside her. A male subject yelled obscene and harassing comments. He was described as late teens, Hispanic male, closely shaved head, wearing a tank top. He was a passenger. A black male subject passenger in the front also yelled at her without the vulgarities, laughing at the victim. The victim described the operator as a black female. The driver would slow down and stop, waiting for the victim to catch up several times. The victim stated that she smelled odor emanating from the car. The passengers and driver were all smoking.

DESCRIPTION: ALCOHOL POISONING/UNDERAGED POSSESSION/ASSAULT & BATTERY - near Frederickson Hall - complaint/victim observed lying on sidewalk soiled with vomit and body fluids. Two or three people were trying to help her into the residence hall. When the complaint attempted to call the police from a "Blue phone" for assistance, a male subject with the group physically assaulted the complaint and verbally abused her. The responding officer called for rescue squad. The intoxicated student was taken to RMH ER. She was later issued a summons for UNDERAGED POSSESSION. The ASSAULT & BATTERY investigation continues. Culprit is a W/M, approx. 5'10", wearing Blue and White shirt, having short blond hair and blue eyes.

DESCRIPTION: MUTUAL AID ASSIST, MADISON SQUARE APARTMENTS - JMU Officer responded up on request of city officers - Three JMU students residing in apartment and three guests (one a JMU graduate) refused to come to the door for city officers, following noise complaint. They did stand at window and make obscene gestures directed at the city police. City went in and served warrants on all six for obstruction of justice and violation of noise ordinance. JMU officer made no arrests, nor made any transports.

Instead, the subject was given a summons for DIP and UNDERAGED POSSESSION and given a ride to Rockingham County Jail by the JMU Police.

She stated that she had had a domestic dispute with her husband at Key West Beach Bar and Grill. She was extremely intoxicated and placed under arrest. She resisted and kicked while being transported. She caused much disturbance at the county jail.

DESCRIPTION: On Friday, 9/22, this office was advised of a possible hazing incident that occurred July 9-13 in Hanson Hall. Alleged was that the hazing incident took on sexual overtones. All alleged to have been involved were high and middle school students from Hunterdon County (Annandale) New Jersey. All were attending a summer wrestling camp. The school authorities from the North Hunterdon Regional School District have dealt with and resolved all issues related to the incidents(s) at their level, following consultation with the local juvenile authorities and the commonwealth attorney's office here. The JMU Police have no official complaint from victim(s). Have no knowledge of what individuals were involved by name.

Subject was a non student, not carrying ID. All explanations as to source of jacket could not be substantiated. Subject arrested for possession of stolen property. A cadet's car was broken into last week. Unknown at this time whether a cadet jacket was among items stolen from car.
