Cellular Phones

James Madison University Policy No. 1505 requires that the acquisition of cellular telephones be authorized by the appropritate divisional vice president as designated by the university president.    An approved written request and justification must be submitted to Telecommunications.     Information on cellular phones for University use is available on Telecommunication's website.    Loaner service is available through the Office of Telecomunications.

Two-Way Radios (fixed, mobile and hand-held)

Approval is required from the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) for radio products which require Federal Communications (FCC) licensing.     All approved items are listed on a mandatory VITA Contract.    All two-way radio purchases are to be sent to Procurement Services on a paper requisition. Transmitting and receiving frequencies must be included in the specifications attached to the Purchase Requisition.   Please contact Matasha Owens for information and assistance.

Pagers

Any department needing a pager should contact Telecom.     All requests for pagers are processed and tracked by Telecom. Please contact Matasha Owens for any additional information.
