The Byrd Symposium this spring will examine The Father and Son Presidencies of George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush. This all-day event, sponsored by the Byrd Scholar series and organized by the JMU Dept. of Political Science and the journal White House Studies, will be held on Tuesday 3/25/08. Speakers from the JMU faculty and from other universities will examine various aspects of these presidencies from 9am through 4:45pm in Taylor 404. Then, all participants in the symposium will hold a panel session to field questions from 6:30-8pm in the Memorial Hall auditorium. The JMU Dept. of Political Science is pleased to welcome Dr. Abubakar Momoh, senior lecturer at Lagos State University, as part of the Visiting Scholars program of the JMU College of Arts & Letters. On Wednesday 2/6/08 at 7pm in Taylor 306, he will speak on The African Union and the Future of Africa. Dr. Momoh is currently a Fulbright Scholar in residence at UCLA. In addition to his research on the African Union, he is an expert on Nigerian politics who has studied the Niger Delta crisis extensively.

During late December 2007, the Dept. of Political Science moved from Maury Hall to the second floor of Miller Hall. Telephone numbers for the department office and for faculty members remain the same but the mail stop code in our mailing address changed from MSC 1101 to MSC 7705.
