Kathleen Ferraiolo is originally from Connecticut and received her B.A. in political science magna cum laude from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Government from the University of Virginia. Her teaching interests include American politics, public policy, state politics, and research methods. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Pi Sigma Alpha, and Alpha Sigma Nu honor societies.
Her research agenda focuses primarily on direct democracy as a policymaking institution in the American states. Current projects examine state legislators’ response to successful initiatives, the federalism implications of direct democracy, and variations in state and federal approaches to morality policies including drug control and gambling. Her work has been published in Politics & Policy, The American Review of Politics, Publius: The Journal of Federalism, Polity, The Journal of Policy History, Policy Studies Journal, and Teachers College Record.
