Jamie Lockhart graduated from JMU in 2008 with a major in Political Science and minors in Political Communication and Nonprofit Studies. While at JMU, Jamie was active in the Student Government Association, College Democrats, Orientation, Alternative Spring Break​ and served as a Resident Advisor. She participated in the Washington Semester program in 2007 and her internship translated into a Capitol Hill​ job after graduation. ​Currently, Jamie is an ​Associate Director at Mission: Readiness, an organization of hundreds of retired admirals and generals who advocate for research-based investments that help kids stay in school, stay fit and stay out of trouble so that military service is a option. She has been with the organization for over three years and has led press events and legislative outreach in over a dozen states. Prior to Mission: Readiness, Jamie worked on campaigns ranging from county board to the presidential. ​Immediately following graduation, Jamie worked on Capitol Hill as a Legislative Assistant and Director of E-communications for a Congresswoman from Colorado. In addition to nonprofit and political work, Jamie enjoys teaching group fitness classes at Gold's Gym. She's certified by the Athletics and Fitness Association of America as well as Les Mills. Jamie has run several long distance races and is a triathlete. She lives in Arlington, VA with husband Brian Armstrong, a fellow 2008 JMU graduate.
