Shevy majored in International Affairs and Spanish at JMU, where she first learned to love writing papers that combined economics, math, and security policy. During her time at JMU, she was a First yeaR Orientation Guide and was in Phi Sigma Pi and the Student Government Association; she’s still best friends with the people she met through these organizations! Shevy is currently pursuing her master’s in Security Policy Studies at George Washington University, concentrating in transnational security and quantitative methods. She hopes to one day do a little good in the world, and believes the key to understanding and resolving today’s most pressing problems is to learn about as many concepts as possible—from neuroscience to Nietzsche. Having benefited greatly from the guidance of older alumni, she is excited to serve on the alumni board and help students navigate the “real world.”
