Biography
Melinda Adams received her B.A. in International Studies from Emory
University and her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her
teaching interests include comparative politics, African politics, democratization,
and women and politics.
Her research focuses on women's political action in domestic and international
arenas. Her dissertation examines state feminist measures--the creation of women's
national machineries, state protection of women's human rights, and the establishment
of gender quotas--in Cameroon. It argues that domestic conditions influence the
effects of transnational linkages and global norms. A current research project
focuses on gender equity policies in the African Union.
