Integrity
"Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody's going to know whether you did it or not."
- Oprah Winfrey
(Actress, publisher, and entrepreneur)
We value acting with... integrity.
Integrity is firm adherence to a code or standard of values; integrity refers to consistency between values, behavior, and organizational goals. Examples of integrity in action include:
- Establishment of and divisional support for core values
- Appropriately respecting confidentiality in interactions with students and colleagues
- Making decisions that might be unpopular but aligned with core values
- Holding student groups accountable for their actions

As An Individual
- What have I done recently that demonstrates this value is important to me?
- What have I done inadvertently to demonstrate this value is not important to me?
- What do I need to do to more fully demonstrate this value?
- What professional and ethical standards guide my actions and decision making? To whom am I accountable for my integrity?
As a Department
- What evidence do we have of consistency between the division's core values, departmental goals, and departmental actions? What gaps need to be addressed?
- How are the division's core values promoted by the department to students, other departments, and other constituencies? What additional efforts might be effective?
- What professional and ethical standards are essential ingredients of departmental integrity? How are employees held accountable for acting on these codes?
- How is individual or group misalignment with the integrity value addressed by the department?
- How does our department model and teach integrity to students? What else could the department do in this regard?
