You've entrusted James Madison University with your most valued treasure: your child. It's a role we take seriously. The Office of Parent Relations is here to partner with you in preparing your student to become an educated and enlightened citizen who will lead a productive and meaningful life.
Use this site to locate resources for parents and family members of JMU students and find information on the annual Family Weekend, Parents Council, send-off picnics, and other activities.
Have a student trying to get home? We can help with that. Planning a visit to JMU? We have information on that, too.
Keep in touch with what's happening at the university through JMU news, The Breeze, Madison magazine, and more. Parents also receive the Madison Family Connection e-newsletter. Register your e-mail here.
JMU is changing the world — one person at a time. Learn about our mission, academic programs, national rankings, and get information on tuition and fees.

Accommodations are very hard to find. Facilities are filling up quickly. Be patient. Invariably rooms are cancelled, even in October. Call the toll free numbers of hotels, motels and bed and breakfasts in the valley, which can be found on the traveling to JMU web page. Most lodging facilities will not take reservations more than one year in advance.
The date for Family Weekend as well as Homecoming is determined when we are assured the football schedule will not change. The date is posted to the Parents Weekend website as soon as the football conference schedule has been determined and confirmed. Bookmark the page and check back often.
A save-the-date postcard is mailed out during the middle of August, and the e-brochure is e-mailed to parents/families during the first week in August.
The football tickets are mailed out the second week in August. Or, you may request to pick the tickets up at the Convocation Center Ticket Office.
Please ask your student what address they reported to the university as their "home" address. The postcar will be mailed to the "student reported home" address. The brochure is posted on the Family Weekend website. You may print it out, complete and return the registration form portion.
Is there also a Freshman Family Weekend?
No, one was held a few years ago with very little interest. There are no plans for this to be held again.
