Green TECHfacturing is a three-day camp for middle school students (rising 6th-8th grade) to explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics in the context of local manufacturing facilities and processes. Students will participate in hands-on activities designed to give them an awareness of the incredible world of science and engineering, and then tour area manufacturing facilities to see those concepts in practice.
TECHfacturing is offered at no cost to families. This is a grant-funded program, and this year we would like to thank our new grant funding partners, the Shenandoah Valley Energy Partnership (SVEP) through the Shenandoah Valley Workforce Investment Board (SVWIB). The SVEP, of which JMU and BRCC are members, received a $5 million grant to develop instructional programs designed to help our workforce acquire new skills in sustainable construction, weatherization, manufacturing, building design and renewable energy industries. Therefore, this year’s camp will be called Green TECHfacturing, and will have an increased focus on using technology and engineering to increase efficiency and sustainability. We are excited about this partnership!
Spaces are limited, first come first serve. Thank you!
