  • The requested loan amount cannot exceed the course fee.
  • You must be registered in the course prior to Outreach certifying the loan. Complete and submit the registration form.
  • When applying, use the following James Madison University Continuing Education school code: 003721-98.

NOTE: These loans are not backed by the federal government and therefore may have terms and conditions less favorable than federally funded student and parent loans. All students and parents should first consider and apply for federal student loans before applying for private loans. The information on this site is accurate as of the date the information was collected. Because these are private loans, lenders can change the terms and conditions of these loans without notifying JMU. We suggest you verify this information with any lender on this chart prior to applying for a loan with that company. You may borrow with any lender offering a private education loan, and you are not required to borrow with any of the lenders on this site. JMU does not discriminate against lenders and will certify loans from any private lender provided the student meets the lender’s eligibility requirements.

*Note: Federal financial aid is not available for noncredit programs therefore the FAFSA is not required.

  • Fill out a Private Loan Self Certification Form: http://www.jmu.edu/financialaid/docs/Private_Self_Cert.pdf - This form will be provided by your lender during the application process. If your lender has requested a Self-Certification Form and has not provided one to you, contact your lender or complete the above form and submit it to your lender. You will not receive your loan funds until this step is complete.

Registration Deadline: Registration closes 10 days prior to class start date. Late registrations may be accepted up until 3 business days prior to the class start date however will incur a $25 late registration fee for rush shipping.

Cancellation Policy: You may cancel your registration up to 14 days prior to the program start date and receive a refund of course registration fees, less a $25 administrative fee and any credit card processing fees. To withdrawal from a course you must send a request in writing to outreach@jmu.edu. Late withdrawal requests (less than 14 days but greater than 7 days prior to the the program start date) will receive a refund of 50% course registration fees and any credit card processing fees. No refunds will be given 7 days or less from the program start date.

Program Requirements: There are no admission requirements to take this class. Certain criteria must be met for participants applying to take the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP exam.

SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP Exam Requirements: To apply for either the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP, candidates must have a combination of education and professional HR experience. For more information, visit SHRMcertification.org
