The Foundations of Management (FoM) certificate program is designed to provide essential knowledge and tools for supervising new managers, supervisors, and leaders. The FoM is the product of a comprehensive Job Task Analysis study that identified the knowledge, skills and abilities that new supervisors and managers need to perform in today's workplace.
FoM Program Description
The FoM program comprises approximately 45 hours of learning and includes a custom-published study manual (in print or e-book format) and access to the ICPM e-Learning Center. The e-Learning Center includes multimedia learning content to augment the study manual and practice exams.
Participants who successfully complete the coursework and pass the comprehensive FoM exam receive a certificate of completion to document their achievement. Additionally, participants that go on to apply for the Certified Manager (CM) certification within a 5-year period may use the FoM exam to satisfy one of the two exams required to obtain CM certification.
FoM Exam Description
The FoM exam consists of 90 multiple choice questions that assess new manager competencies validated by ICPM's Job Task Analysis. The proctored exam is administered online through the ICPM e-Learning Center and is time-limited to a maximum of 90 minutes. The FoM exam must be taken within 12 months of registering for the FoM program. A failed exam can be retaken for a fee.
