Complete the Non-Degree Seeking Student Application form online; select "I am seeking admission to a certificate program" and indicate the program on the form.
You will need to locate the course number, title, and section number of the course; this information is located on the Outreach & Engagement website under "Current Credit Course Offerings." For example:
26067 EXED 565 OP01 Instructional Methods in Gifted Education, Dr. Erin Miller
Course number: EXED 565
Title: Instructional Methods in Gifted Education

If you intend to take all the coursework for the certificate, submit the application with a $45 one-time application fee; if you choose this option, you will just need to contact Outreach & Engagement before the start of each semester to be registered in the next course.
If, at this time, you intend to take only one or two courses in the certificate program, submit the application with a $15 application fee; if you choose this option, you will need to re-apply (and submit another $15 application fee) each semester you wish to take a course in this certificate program.
Upon successful submission, you will receive an electronic response confirming receipt.
Once the application has been processed, which usually takes 24-48 hours, you will receive an email prompting you to activate your eID in the JMU accounts portal. This step is extremely important! Be sure to save the eID and password you will create. This e-id and password will be used to gain access to eCampus, Webmail and Blackboard, which are crucial tools for participating in any online course. You cannot activate your eID, access BlackBoard, JMU Webmail, or eCampus, until after Outreach & Engagement completes your registration. This may take 2-3 business days after you complete the online paperwork.
Outreach & Engagement will register you for the course you indicated on your application; you can check your registration at any time through eCampus.
Billing for this course will be issued through your JMU webmail. Online tuition payment can be made through accessing eCampus.
If you have any difficulties with your application or registration, please contact us at outreach@jmu.edu, or 540-568-4253.
