James Madison University

We are seeking current seasoned student leaders, graduate students, and professionals at James Madison University to present workshops during the Student Leadership Summit.

The first round will focus on creating collaboration, based on what we know of ourselves as a community in terms of values. Topics that might be covered during this round could include: values as guides for organizations and/or personal life, collaboration as a values-based idea, diversity, inclusiveness in collaboration. Students will come to this round having held dialogues with each other about what it means to be a part of and a leader in the JMU community, their personal and organizational values and from where those come, with tables based on values reflected in the Madison Way. This round will be held in the late morning.

The second round will focus on taking collaborative ideas and making them reality. Topics that might be covered during this round could include: programming success, inspiring a shared vision, empowering others, bringing groups together, planning activities with multiple groups involved, other programming topics, etc. Students will come to this round having held lunch conversations reflecting on what it means to collaborate and what they've learned so far. This round will be held immediately following lunch, in the early afternoon. After this round, students will be asked to come up with a collaborative action plan at their tables.
