JMU Waitlist Information
Why am I on a waitlist?
- The number of applicants for housing exceeds the number of beds. Only incoming Freshman students are guaranteed housing.
What order are contracts offered?
We offer contracts in the following order;
- Current on-campus 1st year freshman (rising sophomores).
- Upperclass on-campus students.
- Newly admitted Transfer students.
- Students who are currently living off-campus.
How do I get off the waitlist and receive a contract?
Contracts will continue to be offered in the following order;- Current on-campus 1st year freshman (rising sophomores)
- Upperclass on-campus students.
- Newly admitted Transfer students.
- Students who are currently living off-campus.
- There is no guarantee students on the waitlist will be offered a contract for on-campus.
What happens to make contracts available?
- Current applicants who have been offered a contract and fail to return it by the deadline.
- Students who have returned a contract but wish to give up their space, may request an exchange with the next available student on the waitlist.
- Students with a contract that may transfer or leave JMU will create an available contract.
Can I participate in the the room reservation process?
- Applicants contracted from the waitlist prior to February 8, 2008 will participate in the room reservation process.
- Applicants contracted from the waitlist February 8, 2008 or later will receive a housing assignment over the summer with consideration for their preferences as space permits.
When should I look for off-campus housing?
- Unfortunately we are unable to give you a date as to when we will no longer have housing. Cancellations are received throughout the months of July and August.
