Hall Policies
Substance-Free Halls
The university provides a residence hall for students and their guests who choose not to smoke, use or possess alcohol and/or other drugs. Returning to this hall under the influence of alcohol and/or other drugs is a violation of residence hall policy. Residents violating their substance-free agreement may be required to move to another more appropriate space on campus if their behavior impacts this living community. A fine of $75 per violation may be assessed if students do not adhere to policy.
Residents and their guests agree to not possess tobacco products or smoke in or around the hall. Entering the hall after having smoked is also prohibited, as the odor and residue can linger in hair and clothing. Only non-smokers should live in the substance-free hall.
It is the responsibility of the residents to ensure that all guests adhere to these policies. All students interested in living in the substance-free community must complete a written application and be accepted each year.
