Computer Information
Computing Support provides general computing labs in various locations around campus for student use.
CampusNet is JMU's on-campus student Ethernet network that gives students high-speed access to e-mail, the Internet and other network resources from their residence hall rooms. There is one data port for each occupant of the room. Computers must meet minimum system requirements in order to take advantage of the service. Learn more on the computing quick-start Web site.
Wireless service is currently available, hall-wide, in Hoffman Hall, Wayland Hall and Shenandoah Hall. Hall-wide wireless service is scheduled to be available in Chesapeake Hall and Potomac Hall as of the start of the fall 2012 semester.
Wireless service is available in at least one study lounge in each residence hall and is also available in many academic locations. Students should not purchase wireless routers/hubs/servers etc. for use in the residence halls as these items are prohibited. For a complete listing of wireless locations available on campus, visit the computing quick-start Web site.
