RA FAQs

Can I request a specific residence hall?

RAs will be assigned random lottery numbers and will participate in RA Room Sign Up on February 15, 2013.  If you have a medical need for a specific type of hall, medical documentation must be provided.

Can I participate in a suite reservation if I am an RA?

No, RAs cannot reserve a suite. RAs are permitted to pull in a roommate if the room accommodates two people, but they are not able to pull in an entire suite of four or more people.

Which halls are substance-free?

Hall designations for 2013-14 have not yet been finalized.

What do I do if I need to live in an air-conditioned hall for medical reasons?

Please indicate on the RA application if you need air conditioning for medical reasons. You will need to submit a special housing request form http://www.jmu.edu/specialhousing/ and have it approved prior to February 10 to be granted this request. Halls with air conditioning are Ashby, Bell, Chesapeake, Converse, Gifford, Hillside, Hoffman, Logan, McGraw-Long, Potomac, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Treehouses, Wampler, and Wayland.
