Academic Support
Academic Mentoring
Did you just finish your first semester of freshman year? Have you struggled to make the transition from high school to college classes? Do you need some help to raise your GPA?
Academic Mentoring is a program designed for first year students on academic probation to work with trained upper-class student academic mentors. Mentors will work to identify the needs of each mentee and develop a success plan accordingly. Some topics students may work on:
- Learning new study skills to positively change their study behavior
- Recognizing their learning styles
- Improving time management skills
- Setting academic and personal goals
Mentors will support, coach, and advise the mentee with any useful information needed to succeed academically. This will occur through:
- One on one interactions,
- Group meetings,
- Emails,
- Phone calls
Most importantly, if students use their newfound skills they will most likely succeed in raising their GPA to that of good academic standing. If you want to better yourself academically, then we have the program for you!
