Unable to attend December Transfer Orientation?
Hi there!
We're glad you're taking the time to complete all of the Transfer One Book Web site steps to prepare for transfer orientation on December 5.
We recently received your orientation reservation and wanted to follow-up since you indicated that you're unable to attend Transfer Orientation, our one-day orientation program. We realize that this may be a busy time, but we want to emphasize how important it is that you attend orientation in December.
Attending Transfer Orientation is the best opportunity to obtain the courses you need to continue the academic success you've started at your current or previous institution. If you choose not to attend Transfer Orientation, please be aware of the following:
- JMU cannot guarantee the same level of course availability in your intended major as we are able to offer during Transfer Orientation.
- You will be responsible for contacting the academic department in which you intend to major to make an appointment with your academic adviser. Because the week of December 8th is finals week, academic advisers and departmental faculty may not be available to meet with you until the first week of classes in January.
- All incoming student accounts are automatically billed a $30 orientation fee. This non-refundable fee is charged to every student, whether or not they choose to attend orientation.
Considering all of these factors, we strongly recommend that you make a reservation to attend Transfer Orientation on December 5.

If you are still unable to attend, please click here to return to the December Orientation website and complete Step 3 indicating that you will not be able to attend.
International Transfer Students
If you are an international student, we understand that you may not be able to attend orientation. We realize that this may be a busy time, but we want to emphasize how important it is that you attend orientation in December, if at all possible.
- Although JMU cannot guarantee the same level of course availability in your intended major as we are able to offer during Transfer Orientation, we will make sure that an adviser in your major department is aware that you will be arriving later and will need to register for classes. If departments are aware that you are coming, they may be able to issue overrides or hold space for you, when possible.
Additional information for incoming international transfer students is provided by the Office of International Programs by clicking here.
If you are unable to attend, please click here to return to the December Orientation website and complete Step 3 indicating that you will not be able to attend.
