Transfer Summer Springboard 2009!

This one-day program in June is designed to get you ready for your arrival on campus in August. This is a full day (7:45 a.m.-5 p.m.) of opportunities for you and your family to discover everything that JMU offers. It's also when you register for your first semester courses!

 

There are four Orientation sessions to choose from: June 1, 2, 4, or 5. Attend Transfer Springboard in June means you'll register for classes before freshmen.

Students will join with other new transfer students to:

  • Meet your academic adviser
  • Register for fall classes
  • Get the inside scoop from ANTs (Assisting New Transfer Students) and Orientation Program Assistants
  • Prepare for your new life at JMU

 

Parents and family members will:

  • Discover more about student services and resources
  • Get answers to key questions

 

 

Transfer Springboard begins with check-in from 7:45 a.m.-8:15 a.m. in Warren Hall (click here for a campus map). At check-in you'll receive important advising and registration materials and get started on the day. Click here for directions to Orientation parking.

 

What to bring to Transfer Springboard…

 

  • Bring all college transcripts and course descriptions
  • Picture identification (such as driver's license) with birth date for your JACard
  • An umbrella
  • Wear comfortable, casual clothes and shoes because you will be doing some walking.

Directions to Orientation Parking

(These directions offer the most direct route to orientation parking)

Northbound or Southbound on Interstate 81: Take Exit 247B (Highway 33 West) and at the first stop light make a left onto Cantrell Ave. Proceed through two stop lights and then take a left into parking lot C-4 (click here for a map).

 

Orientation Staff will be available in the parking lot to direct you to check-in on the second floor of Warren Hall (click here for a map). If you have special parking needs please contact us at (540) 568-1787.

Receive important academic information for your advising session

Enjoy refreshments and meet other family members and guests

 

8:25 a.m.-9:00 a.m. University Welcome

Students, family members, guests:

Students and family members will be welcomed by the JMU President and a faculty member.

 

9:10 a.m.-11:00 a.m.

Students: Chillin' with your ANT and OPA

Learn what it's like to be a student at JMU from other students. Get answers to your Transfer Credit Evaluation questions.

 

Family/Guests: Assisting your transfer student in transition

Find out what JMU expects of your student, learn about our unique curriculum, get the scoop on services, and discover how to support your student in transition.

 

11:10-11:30 a.m. Student Services at JMU

Students, family members, guests:

Get information on financial aid, bill payment, dining, housing, and computing.

 

11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Resource Fair

Students, family members, guests:

You can never have too much information! All the student service offices come together in one place to make this a one-stop shop for you.


12:15 p.m.-1:00 p.m. Lunch

Enjoy lunch in Gibbons Dining Hall, our wonderful student dining facility.

1:00-5:00 p.m.

JACard pickup, campus tours, and Housing Fair in Taylor Down Under (TDU)
