Making Your Springboard Reservation

Go to the One Book web site as soon as you can after April 11 because reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Course availability is not influenced by the date you attend. Your orientation date will be available on the One Book web site May 29th. The program will last from 7:45 am-6:00 pm.
The Orientation Fee
All university financial accounts for first-year students will be charged $150. This fee covers Summer Springboard Orientation, 1787 Orientation in August and other first-year programs. Billing information will be available at Summer Springboard Orientation. You do not have to pay any orientation fee at this time; however, if you have a QuikBILL installment payment plan, you should make sure your annual budget includes this charge.

International Students
International students are welcome--but not expected to attend Summer Springboard. If you are an international student and plan to attend, reserve your orientation date on the One Book site. International Students are expected to attend Transitions, a program designed to ease international students' transition to the U.S. and the university.
Athletes and Musicians
Even though members of JMU fall athletic teams and the Marching Royal Dukes arrive early for the semester in August, you must attend Summer Springboard Orientation in June and July. You'll be happy to know that we've set up the schedule for 1787 Orientation in August so that it fits with practices for teams and the band.
