Which Learning Community is for Me?

There are eight learning communities at JMU--each one has its own character and its own focus.  Click on the links above to see more information about the following communities:

Honors Learning Community: Connect with other Honors students in a variety of research and discovery activities.

Huber Learning Community: Interested in pre-professional health programs such as pre-dentistry, pre-forensic studies, pre-medicine, pre-occupational therapy, pre-optometry, pre-pharmacy, pre-physical therapy, pre-physician assistant or pre-veterinary medicine? You take seminar classes in both the fall and spring semesters that explore fundamental health issues and how they relate to a variety of health professions.

Madison Eco Community: Are you all about being green? Join the Madison Eco Community and learn about reducing your ecological footprint and becoming a leader in environmental change. You'll also build your outdoor skills with opportunities for camping, hiking, canoeing, and other activities. The Madison Eco Community is open to all students.

Madison International Learning Community: Do you want to experience and learn about cultures, beliefs, and practices around the world? Would you like to make a real difference, both locally and globally? Through a wide range of activities, courses, and programs, Madison International provides an extraordinary opportunity for a diverse cohort of international and American student-residents to learn from and about each other in a dynamic and international residence hall located in the heart of JMU.

Psychology Learning Community: Students with a strong interest in psychology get a unique two-semester introduction to the field through tailor-made courses and experiences to help jump-start their major.

Roop Learning Community: If a teaching career in grades pre-K-12 is your plan, take science core classes together and volunteer in local schools.

Teer Learning Community: Open to all majors, Teer Learning community students take Cluster One General Education courses together and participate in community service.

Trelawny Learning Community: Biology majors explore the major and build special relationships with biology faculty members during a specially designed two-semester seminar course.
