General Meetings
Every Thursday at 8:00 pm in Taylor Hall Room 309 (the "Democrat-Republican" Room). Come discuss current events and issues and help plan a course of action on campus and in the community to raise awareness and fight back against the powers that be!
Committee Meetings
Currently, we have two committees working on various projects. The Peace Action committee works to educate ourselves and the rest of the JMU community about alternatives to war and violence. This committee currently focuses on the situation in Afghanistan and the impact of the ongoing military actions on the workers of both "sides." The Media Committee works to debunk corporate media propaganda myths surrounding the mobalization for war by publishing in student and alternative newspapers and by participating in other events to spread the word of peace and justice. We welcome the development of other committees as the group needs them. Bring your ideas!
UPCOMING ACTIONS!
Missile of Militarism: We are building a ten-foot-tall missile pinata of militarism. After completion of this monsterous task, we will take it to the commons and have people take swings at it with the wiffle-bat of peace, wearing a media blindfold. Hmmm, thought provoking. War Games/Theropy Day: we will have set up on the Commons lots of war games, such as "Risk" and Battleship" for people that are really bloodthirsty to play... so as to take out their aggressions on the games rather than innocent people. Disney Protest: They just never learn, do they? For the sixth consecutive year, we will be protesting this sweatshop-owning company as it comes to recruit low-paid interns at our school. Other projects are in the works, come to a general meeting or committee meeting to help plan and prepare.
