James Madison University Yoga Club Constitution
Club Name-Article I: JMU Yoga Club

Club Purpose-Article II: Mission is to provide, free of charge, a healthy and fun environment in which to perform yoga. Yoga will include proper stretching, meditation, breathing, and postures in the tradition of ancient Eastern practices.

Club Membership-Article III: Membership in this club is open to all JMU students and will not be restricted on the basis of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation or political affiliation. Anyone who wishes to join may come to any or all of the meetings. There is no application process involved. Members are simply expected to have fun and enjoy themselves in the club.

Club Officers-Article IV: There is no hierarchical structure in the club. No officers are necessary. At the first meeting of each semester one person will become the designated contact person who is responsible for the group welfare.

Club Adviser-Article V: The adviser shall be a full-time faculty/staff member of JMU. The adviser will assume those responsibilities as outlined in this constitution and/or found in University Policy No. 3101 entitled "Faculty Advisers to Student Organizations." The policy can also be found on the JMU homepage. Refer to For the JMU Community/For employees (series 3000)/Policy Manual #3101. In case the adviser steps down or is removed the person in charge of the group is responsible for finding a new adviser.

Club Meetings-Article VI: Meetings will be held at least twice a week. The times and dates will be decided upon consideration of the members involved. A quorum consists of a simple two-thirds majority of the current membership. Robert's Rules of order(newly revised) shall govern the meetings.

Club Finances-Article VII: Yoga is free and operates without a budget. There will be no money involved in the club.

Amendments-Article VIII: Amendments to this constitution must be submitted in writing at a regular or special meeting of the organization. Amendments will be voted on at the subsequent meeting. In order to adopt the amendment, a vote of two-thirds of the membership is necessary. The Committee on Club Recognition must approve all amendments to this constitution.

Ratification-Article IX: The constitution shall become effective upon approval by a three-quarter vote from the Membership, the Commission of Student Services, and the President of James Madison University.
