What is Yoga?

Yoga is an exercise from the Far East.

Its many applications for healing the body, mind, and spirit have made it popular w/ more than 15 million Americans. In fact, there are more Americans practicing Yoga than East Indians.

But, for some strange reason, the mainstream media still associates Yoga w/ the "New Age" movement. Perhaps it is because all "new" things must be categorized before they are understood, or it could be just another attempt to distract us from the truth. After all, sheep must follow blindly when they are lost.

Most people are surprised to learn that Yoga has almost nothing to do with sticking your legs behind your head. Unfortunately, it is the extremes of an art form that often get the most attention. That good old American corporate competitive attitude has got us twisting into pretzels in more ways than one.

The power of Yoga lies in the opportunity created by linking breath to movement. Breath is rhythm. When we learn to breathe, accept, and grow we become music. "If you can breathe, you can make music," Bob Dylan once said. Yoga can even help you aspiring students as well.
