Dr. Scott Morris:

Dr. Morris is Founder and Executive Director of the Church Health Center, which opened in 1987 to provide  primary health care to low-income uninsured working people of Memphis, TN.  The CHC is an ecumenical health care ministry supported by the faith and medical communities.   With the continuing financial support of the faith community, businesses, foundations and individuals, the Center's ministries have matured and expanded since 1987.

Doctor Morris and one nurse saw twelve patients that first day, the fewest ever seen on a single day.  Today the Center's clinic has 40,000 patients of record and an on-site staff of physicians, two full-time dentists, nurses and two pastoral counselors.  A network of over 600 volunteer physicians, nurses, dentists and optometrists and other health care professionals keep the clinic open at nights and on weekends or see patients in their offices.  In January 2000, the CHC opened the Hope & Healing Center where the best disease prevention efforts of medicine are combined with the pastoral and spiritual care of the faith community.

Dr. Morris has a Master of Divinity degree from Yale University, and an M.D. from Emory University.  He is a board certified family practice physician and an ordained United Methodist minister.
