Practice

The Contemporary Gospel Singers meet from 7 pm to 9:30 pm on Tuesday nights in the Music Building room 142.

Membership

Membership is open to currently enrolled students at James Madison University who are sincerely interested in the aims and purposes of this organization. Membership in this organization is open to all James Madison University students and will not be restricted on the basis of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation or political affiliation.

Office Hours

The CGS office is located in Taylor Hall room 226. Office hours run as follows:
Monday: 12-1 pm, Da'Net Henderson
Tuesday: 12-2 pm, Kimberly Tate
Wednesday: 1-3 pm, Dawn Claiborne; 3-5 pm, Keith Cook
Thursday: 2-4 pm, Natoya Hill; 4-6 pm, Kynisha DeBose
Friday: 12-1 pm, Da'Net Henderson

Engagement Acceptance Procedure

All parties interested in having the Contemporary Gospel Singers perform must contact CGS at least three (3) weeks prior to the engagement. During this time period the Executive Board shall take the next week to pray and discuss the acceptance of said engagement.
Factors that the Executive Board will consider when evaluating a possible engagement are
  1. the purpose of the organiztion requesting attendance
  2. any previous commitments the choir has accepted
  3. the James Madison University Academic Calendar.

After consideration the Contemporary Gospel Singers shall respond to the engagement offer in writing with a performance contract or letter of declination.
The Contemporary Gospel Singers ask that any party requesting a performance for an out of town engagement cover the cost of transportation for the choir as well as the provision of refreshments after the performance.
