We are a ministry with one main goal--to spread the word of Christ so that someone might be saved.
We believe that our aim as Christians is to be soldiers of God. We are of no specific shape, form, fashion, or
denomination. All that can be said is that we believe in God and love Him wholeheartedly.
The History of the Inspirational Ensemble
The Inspirational Ensemble was established in January of 1990 by 14 young men and women on the campus of James Madison University as an extra performance group during the Gospel Extravaganza of the
Contemporary Gospel Singers of JMU. In September of 1992, under the direction of Lindsay Baker, the Ensemble decided to begin a more permanent ministry.
The founding members of the Inspirational Ensemble are Roger Hobson, Antonio Cyrus, Shanta Jasper, Kimberly Taylor, Mari Hines, Veleka Studivant, Stephanie Swain, Karla Ricks, Alfrica Edmonds, Kyra Taylor, Joseph Sparksman, Shawn
Foreman, Melvin Trent, and Lindsay Baker.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Colossians 3:16
If you would like to have the Inspirational Ensemble perform for any engagement, please write to the address found at the top of the page or send an email to The Inspirational Ensemble.
Many obstacles have been successfully overcome within the history of IE with His love and assistance. Please pray for the choir both collectively as well as individually that the Lord will continue to bless us as we minister His word.
