Because we believe that the Honors Program provides a new and exciting opportunity for learning, and that students in the program should organize for the benefit of those who serve and those who are served, we establish an organization which shall be known as the Madison Honors Club.

That was from our Constitution - in other words:

We are a group of college kids who felt we should give something back to the community.  We do a lot of service projects throughout the school year with many groups in the area.  We have found that while giving to the community is hard work - it also is a ton of fun - especially working with the children.  Listed below are some of the groups we work with.  Please drop us a line if you know of any other areas that are in need of some volunteers.

Boys and Girls Club we work on a limited basis with this group, helping out with some of their activities.

Keister Elementary School is a local school where we do a lot of tutoring for both ESL and math students. We have also helped out with some of their PTA events.

Kid's Cafe is a place where kids can go in the afternoon to get a good meal and play some games.

Mercy House provides temporary housing for families who need a hand getting their feet back on the ground.  Since there always seem to be a lot of children at any given time we try to go out at least once a month with projects for them.  Tee shirt painting and tree planting have been some of the more recent ones.

Roberta Webb Day Care Center is a day care for low income families in the area.  We try to come up with a new idea every month for the children, usually tying it in with an upcoming holiday.

Sunnyside Retirement Home has welcomed us many times for holiday and hymn sing alongs as well as trips just to visit with retirees that are living there.

Valley Aids Network is a organization that helps people in the valley who have the AIDS virus.
