The following is a list of dance opportunities in the Central Shenandoah Valley and surrounding area. All events are open to the public unless otherwise noted.



Dec 7-9th - Fire and Ice Dance Extravaganza on the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville, VA featuring championship instruction and exhibition in Swing, Latin, Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop and Capoiera-  Brazilian form of martial art and dance.  A preview of the festival will begin  Friday on the stage near the Paramount Theatre with free exhibitions by Va DanceSport Academy and the BalletSchool.  These exhibitions will be just a taste of what you can expect to see at the Grand Finale Dinner Dance and Show at the Omni Hotel located on the downtown mall Sunday evening, Dec 9th.  Tickets for the dinner/dance show available at VA DanceSport Academy.  Check the    Charlottesville Daily Progress for details or contact Virginia DanceSport Academy at 975-9777 or email georgiamay@vadancesport.net or on the Website:  www.vadancesport.net


Fri & Sat, Dec 14 & 15 - DANCING WITH KAREN

Lessons taught at Ballet Extension -102B So. main St., Bridgewater, Va.; cost is $6 person per hour /$3 student with ID.

Fri, Dec 14  -  7 PM - beginner cha cha
                    8 PM - advanced beginner/intermediate waltz
                    9 PM - intermediate East Coast swing
Sat, Dec 15  - 12 Noon - beginner swing
                    1 PM - adv.beg/intermed Viennese Waltz (4th of 4 lessons, starts with basics)
                    2 PM- international quickstep (4th of 4 lessons, starts with basics)
                    3 PM - advanced rumba

Dec 15 - Holiday Ball - Dress so you sparkle and shine or come in whatever you wish to celebrate the holiday season with food, dancing and good company. Free basics lesson at 7:15 included with dance.

Dances are at the Dayton Learning Center (directions below), unless otherwise notified. Dances are 8 - 10:30 PM - casual dress unless otherwise stated. Cost is $7 person/$5 USABDA and seniors/$4 students.  A mix of ballroom Latin and swing music will be played. (We are happy to play requests for other music if we have it!!) Light refreshments served. Free lessons at 7:15 - these will start at the beginner level at 7:15 and move to more advanced figures at about 7:30. Please be time conscious to get your desired level of instruction.

Sat, Jan 26 - Workshops with Lee Santos sponsored by Shenandoah Valley USABDA.   From 2:00-3:00pm continue with Argentine Tango, and from 3:00-4:00 pm continue with Hustle.  Then at 8 pm until 10:30 dance to your favorite Ballroom, Latin and swing music with DJ.  At 7:30 pm a free dance lesson will precede the dance.  Cost of dance is $5 members, $7 non-members, $3 students. Carlottesville Salsa Club <chvillesalsaclub@yahoo.com>, Classes begin again on September 30th at the   Municipal Arts Center.    Classes will run from Sept. 30th through Oct. 28th (5  classes).  The schedule is:
         7-8pm Beginner Salsa
         8-9pm Intermediate Salsa
Classes are $10 per person per class or $40 per person for all five classes (this must be paid at the first class).  Classes will take place at the Charlottesville Municipal Arts Center which is located at 1119 Fifth St.(this is the same street as McIntire Rd. and Ridge St.)  Please arrive 15 minutes prior to class to register.  For more information you can contact Edwin Roa at edwinart@yahoo.com or 434-295-7103.

Dayton Learning Center is located on Mill Street in Dayton.

Take Bridgewater exit from I81 into Bridgewater to Rt 42N, enter town of Dayton, at light in Dayton you will see a poultry factory on the right. Turn left at this light, at stop sign turn right. Go several blocks to Mill Street, turn left onto Mill Street. Go through stop sign, Dayton Learning Center is on the right midway up the hill.  Plenty of parking on the side and in back of the building.
