FaB Weekly Meetings |
So what really goes on at those weekly meetings?
If you're lucky enough to find yourself in Godwin 356 on a Wednesday evening, you'll probably find yourself swept into the orderly chaos that is the JMU FaB Club.
We dance from 6:30-9, and since we're addicted to Folk and Ballroom dance, we try to dance the whole time. But don't worry! Just because there's music, you don't have to be moving. We know that for beginners all that dance can be intimidating, so we'll walk you through it at first.
We teach for the first part of the club meeting (approx. 6:30-8pm). The officers meet ahead of time to try to figure out what the club could work on to get ready for the next event, or just for fun. They try to organize the evening so the dances make sense with each other, and make sense to the dancers, too.
After we teach we do some requests (approx. 8-9pm). Many of us have been dancing for a while, and we know what we like! For those who have a favorite dance (or ten) we try to finish up the evening with requests. There often is a short walk- or talk-through these dances, so that the new dancers won't be left out of the fun.
Some time during the evening there are announcements: to keep the dancers up-to-date on upcoming events, and any other information anyone has to share.
The evening ends at 9 and we head our separate ways, usually with reminders of those upcoming events. We do a lot of dance together, and we like to keep each other involvedl!
