Zweifacher

There are seven zweifächern on the FaB pages.  A zweifacher is a German dance that combines waltzes and pivots (a “pivot” in German is a “dreher”).  Each dance is different, and the dancers must listen to the melody to know how to dance each zweifacher.  Unless they’re you and they have a cheat sheet. ;-)

Many zweifächern require the dancers to trade parts with each refrain of the dance.  I prefer to do a zweifacher in shoulder-shoulder position, but dancers can use whatever they feel most comfortable with.  The couple should bend their knees and lean back (counter-balance) in order to spin faster.  The dance doesn’t travel – you’ll stay basically in one place on the floor.

The pivots/drehern are done as pivots usually are: left foot around, right foot through.  The waltz steps are done almost like waltz turns, but without traveling.  Each step can be used to rotate the couple a bit more.  The couple rotates clockwise.
