Mach

1-16            8 slow steps in any direction, inside hands joined with partner, start on first feet.  on 16, turn to face the other direction

17-32       repeat 1-16, new inside hands joined

33-48       repeat 1-16, end in shoulder-waist position

49-96       keep stepping slow, but stay on the beat.  the music will speed up and so will your feet, if you're doing it right.  eventually you'll be pivoting.

This dance begins with inside hands joined and the couples moving wherever they like on the dance floor.  When the music changes for the pivots to begin they switch to shoulder-waist position.  Share weight.  If both partners are trustworthy and trusting, she can release her hands from his shoulders and raise her hands above her head.  He's totally responsible for holding the couple together at this point.

When pivoting, regardless of ones' own gender, the right foot always steps through and the left foot always steps around.  stay light on your feet so that you can pivot on them, rather than just stepping all your weight down and hoping that you get around.
