Devil Among the Tailors

A Contra dance done in a proper longways set.  Take hands 4 from the top.

1-8           R hands across, walk 8 clockwise

9-16      L hands back

1-8           ones cast out, walk down the outside of the set – look at your partner!

9-16      ones back up the set

1-8           ones down the inside of the set – hands joined walking, or polka-ing, or sliding

9-16      ones back up, cast around twos

1-16      rights and lefts

1-4           R hand with partner, trade places

5-8           L hand with opposite, trade places

9-12      R hand with partner, trade places

13-16 L hand with opposite, trade places.  You will have walked a square on the floor and come back to where you began, after the ones cast around the twos.

Ones look down the set and twos look up to find the next couple to dance with.
