Alexandrovsky

A Russian dance in waltz time.  Couples begin in a circle with inside hands joined facing each other with his back to the center.

Counts below represent measures.

Part A

1                   turn away from your partner to be back to back.  He raises his left arm just above shoulder height, palm down, straight; she raises her right arm above her head, slightly curved, like ballet.

2                   Step second foot LOD and slide

3                   Repeat 2

4                   Repeat 2

5                   Step and slide first foot in RLOD

6                   Turn to facing: his arm stays up, hers drops and raises again

7                   Repeat 5

8                   Repeat 5

9-16      repeat 1-8

Part B

Facing, both partners put arms just below shoulder height, palms down

1                   turn LOD ½, drop trailing arms

2                   finish turning LOD, drop other arms

3                   slide

4                   slide

5-8           repeat 1-4 in RLOD

9-16      repeat 1-8

Part C

Skater’s position

1                   walk LOD on first foot

2                   turn quickly, still in skater’s position, travel LOD

3                   step-slide on first foot

4                   step-slide on first foot

5-8           repeat to home on new first foot

9-16      repeat 1-8

Part D

    1-16  couple turns, begin with his back to LOD
