Philosophically, we share the the view of ideal government held by Jefferson, an institution with clear limits dedicated to preserving the liberty of citizens. We believe that society is stronger when government is not used as a tool by factions to physically force other factions to behave in a particular way. Rather, we feel that by stressing moral self-responsibility, there are as many possible sources of improvement in society as there are people, each source competing to prove its efficacy. This peaceful competition should comprehend philanthropy and for-profit endeavors.Furthermore, we believe that each person has greater insight into the self than anyone else and should therefore be recognized as sovereign of the self, and master of all personal actions not pernicious to others.
Contrary to vulgar misunderstandings of our party, we are not anarchists. We believe that while the current American government does too much, it does not adequately do the few things it should be doing, such as finding and properly punishing violent criminals, vigorously controlling pollution using the civil legal system, and protecting the safety of Americans from ballistic missiles, among other examples.
Our primary aims are to:
1. Recruit as many people as possible to the club who already love liberty and understand the difficulty of defending it.
2. Disseminate our philosophy of liberty and ensure people do not blindly assume there is no alternative to the uni-party "Republicrats".
