Fall '98 Internship at The Center for Patient Advocacy

The Center for Patient Advocacy is a private, non-profit grassroots
organization founded to represent the interests of patients nationwide
and dedicated to ensuring that all Americans have timely access to the
highest quality medical care in the world.

The Center furthers these goals through many activities, including the education of the American public on federal, state and private sector
health care reform initiatives, the protection of patients' rights, the
articulation of patient concerns to Members of Congress, the Executive Branch, and
State officials, and the promotion of fairness in America's health care sytem

The Center is seeking qualified interns for the Fall of 1998, beginning
in September. Applicants should be responsible, highly motivated and
personable. Duties will include, but not limited to, the following:

-Attending press conferences and Congressional hearings with Center staff
members;
-Following up press releases and media related issues;
-Assisting Center staff members in responding to inquiries for
information on managed care, Center membership and other patient advocacy related
issues;
-Fundraising;
-Researching current health care legislation; and
-Writing for Center Publications.

For those eager to work in an active environment as part of a dedicated
team, an internship with the Center for Patient Advocacy will allow for many
new experiences, the making of contacts on Capitol Hill and within the
patient advocacy field, and the acquiring of valuable skills which pertain to
non-profit work and its role within the Government. Students that are
